The Condé Nast Travel Magazine has released its September edition and within it the winners and finalists for its annual World Savers Awards.

The Condé Nast World Savers Awards encourages the travel industry from around the world to get involved in socially responsible activities in order to contribute to their community.

The World Savers Awards values five different aspects which are poverty reduction, preservation, education, wildlife protection and health programs.  Aside from the winners, a total of 38 companies were recognized as finalist.

The finalists were categorized in Airlines, City Hotels, Cruise Lines, Hotel Chains, Large Resorts and Lodges, Small Resorts and Lodges and Tour Operators.  Nature Air was one of the six finalists in the Airline category sharing the distinction with airlines such as Virgin Atlantic and Air France.

Nature Air takes pride in being the first airline in the world to become 100% Carbon Neutral.  Nature Air fully compensates for its gas emissions by reforesting and preserving the Costa Rican tropical rainforest.  In addition, Nature Air has its own Nature Kids program which teaches English to low income families as well as environmental protection methods.

Costa Rica’s Rios Tropicales was also mentioned as a finalist in the Tour Operator category.
